Cordón del Plata, Cradle of Mountaineers
Vallecitos is the ideal area to begin or gain more experience in mid-and high-altitude mountaineering. Among the many possibilities are the ascents of Cerro Adolfo Calle, Stepanek, and San Bernardo, all excellent challenges with beautiful views that can be completed in a single day. These are three of the most popular four-thousand-meter peaks in the Cordón del Plata.
From their summits, you'll have a breathtaking panoramic view of Cerro Rincón, Cerro Vallecitos, Cerro Plata, Cerro Franke, Cerro Lomas Amarillas, and the Precordillera.
